Viettel (Cambodia) Pte. Ltd trading as Metfone, is the largest mobile carrier operating in Cambodia. As the name suggests the company is a subsidiary of Vietnamese government (military) owned Viettel Global. The company became the largest carrier in Cambodia after purchasing rival Beeline in March 2015, which saw a transfer of all assets, licences, and customers to the Metfone brand.
The company began operations in February 2009 initially providing 2G GSM services, and switched on 3G UMTS in January 2010. Metfone launched commercial 4G LTE services in June 2016. Metfone conducted its first 5G trials in July 2019, partnering with state-owned Telecom Cambodia to carry out the trials.
Currently, Metfone is the leading mobile operator in Cambodia, with the most extensive, reliable and trusted network, member of the world’s fastest-growing telecom operators, Viettel Group.
