MTN is the largest mobile carrier operating in the Republic of the Congo. Previously known as Libertis Télécom, MTN Group acquired the then six year old company in December 2005 and relaunched under the MTN brand in June 2006. The share capital has grown in 7 years from 10 million to 11 billion FCFA today. Its shares are entirely owned by the MTN International group. The company provides 2G GSM services and has provided 3G UMTS since 2013. MTN launched 4G LTE in December 2016, offering peak data rates of up to 150 Mbps.

MTN Congo is present in more than 476 localities and villages in Congo Brazzaville. The current coverage rate is over 80% of the Congolese population.
